Questions and answers
My tankless water heater is giving a code 11. The gas pressure is good but the ignition light won’t turn on
Error code 11 on the Noritz N-0751M tankless water heater indicates an ignition failure. This means the unit detects a demand for hot water but cannot ignite the burner.
Possible causes include:
- No spark
- Insufficient gas supply
- Ignition detected but not sensed by the flame rod
To resolve the issue:
1. Use the sight glass on the burner to check if ignition is occurring.
2. Confirm the presence of three elements needed for combustion: gas, spark, and air (air is usually not an issue in tankless units).
3. If no ignition, check for:
- Proper gas supply and pressure
- Functioning igniter
- Clean and properly connected flame rod
Ensure all components are functioning and connected correctly. If the issue persists, contact a qualified service professional.
