• Generally, the use of grills on balconies is municipally regulated across North
America. Some municipalities prohibit the use of briquette and gas grills on
balconies.
Property managers and condominium corporations may also prohibit the use of
grills on balconies. General safety requirements are to keep the grill three feet
away from any combustibles and 10 feet from any combustible overhangs.
• In addition, relevant provincial fire code regulations may exist so it is important
that local authorities are consulted prior to purchase.
