    Mastering basic Case operations. Before loading the digital camera, be sure you are comfortable with basic Case operations. How to hold the Case Hold the Case firmly with both hands so that you can see the image you want to shoot through the pickup finder on the Case or on the LCD monitor.

    How to use the zoom dial The Case’s zoom dial can be used to control the digital camera’s zoom ring or its manual focus ring. Which operation is available depends on the lens being used. Whether or not the Case’s zoom ring can control the camera’s zoom ring and focus ring depends on which lens is mounted on the digital camera.

    How to connect the hot shoe cable To perform TTL flash shooting using the Case, connect the hot shoe cable provided with the Electronic Flash Case between the connector on the Case and the digital camera’s hot shoe. Turn the hot shoe cable connector cap inside the case counterclockwise to remove it.

    Attaching the zoom ring provided with the optional waterproof port on the lens To control zooming (or to control manual focusing when the mounted lens is a 50 mm macro lens), attach the zoom gear, provided with the optional waterproof port, to the zoom ring on the lens.

    Attach the digital camera to the camera table Before loading the digital camera in the Case, remove the camera table inside the front lid of the Case and attached it to the digital camera. Do not load the combination by force, but load it gently so that the digital camera does not interfere with parts inside the Case. After loading the digital camera, connect the hot shoe cable to the camera’s hot shoe.

    Check the operation of the loaded camera. After sealing the Case, check that the camera functions normally. • Operate the power switch lever on the Case and confirm that the camera is turned ON/OFF. • Turn the mode dial knob on the Case and confirm that the camera mode switches properly. •...

    Final Test The final test after loading the camera is explained below. This is the only way to eliminate worry about possible entry of water! Always perform this test.     4. Underwater Shooting How to use the hand strap Attach the hand strap to the Case, pass your right hand through the hand strap and hold the Case body with the same hand. Take pictures. After shooting, confirm picture on the pickup finder or LCD monitor. Pictures taken while using the Case can be checked on the pickup finder or LCD monitor.

    Gently press the shutter lever. When pressing the shutter lever, hold the Case securely with both hands and operate the lever gently to prevent camera shake. Cautions when using the flash The E-330’s built-in flash cannot be used when the camera is loaded in the Case. When flash shooting is required, use the separately available Electronic Flash and Electronic Flash Case.

    Remove the digital camera. Unlock the buckles on the Case as shown below and carefully open the rear lid. Then, pull out the zoom dial and mode dial, turn the camera table lock lever counterclockwise, and gently lift the camera out of the case using both hands. To remove the digital camera from the Case, simply reverse the procedure described in “Insert the digital camera in the Case”...

    Wash the Case with pure water. After use, seal the Case again after taking out the camera and wash it sufficiently in pure water as soon as possible. After use in sea water, it is effective to immerse it for a fixed time in pure water to remove any salt.

    6. Maintaining the Waterproof Function Remove the O-ring. Open the Case and remove the O-ring. Procedure Insert the O-ring remover into the gap between the O-ring and O-ring groove wall. Bring the tip of the inserted O-ring remover below the O-ring. (Be careful not to damage the groove with the tip of the O-ring remover.) Lift the O-ring, pinch its with your fingertips and pull it out of the Case.

    Replace the O-ring even before a year has passed if it shows signs of damage, cracking or loss of elasticity. Note Please use original Olympus products for the silicone O-ring grease, the silica gel, and the O-ring. These consumable products also can be purchased at an Olympus service station.

    Maintenance of the threaded sections on the TTL cable and TTL cable connector If the threaded sections used to connect the TTL cable to the TTL cable connector are not maintained properly, salt and other seawater residue may adhere the TTL cable and prevent it from being disconnected.
