Chinese Editor

You can enter Chinese names in the direc-
tory using the Chinese Editor. The Chinese
editor is automatically invoked when
entering the
Name
Selecting the input mode
The default method when entering the
Chinese editor is
Press * briefly to switch through the
input modes in the following sequence:
u
Pinyin / Stroke
u
Abc
(alpabetical, 1st letter upper case,
all others lower case)
u
123
(numbers)
u
(alpabetical, all letters lower case)
abc
Press * before entering the letter.
The current input mode is indicated in the
top left corner of the display.
Switch between
Pinyin / Stroke

Pinyin mode
To create a valid pinyin syllable you have
to press one or more keys and you may
have to press them more than one time
depending on the chararcter position on
the key. E.g. to create pinyin "yi" you have
to press
OOO444.
When a valid pinyin syllable is con-
structed, a list of up to 6 corresponding
Chinese characters is shown on the dis-
play. Above each character a selection
indicator (digit 1–6) is shown.
If there are more than 6 corresponding
characters, this is indicated by a triangle
left and/or right of the character list. You
can navigate in the character list using r/
q.
Press
to select the highlighted Chinese

Using the directory and lists
Press # briefly to toggle the tone in
the following sequence:

Notes:
– The tone is indicated by the corresponding
number to the right of the pinyin.
– 5 is not available for every pinyin.
Stroke mode
In stroke mode you can enter up to 10
leading strokes of a Chinese word by
pressing 1–5. A list of corre-
sponding characters is shown on the dis-
play. Navigate in the list with r/q.

Symbols and alphabetical characters
In any of the modes
Pinyin
can also enter symbols or alphabetical
characters.

Press Q. A list of symbols is shown
on the display .
If you press Q again, a list of upper-
case alphabetical characters .
If you press Q a third time, a list of
lowercase alphabetical characters .

Navigate in the list with r/q.

Select the highlighted symbol or char-
acter by pressing
