2. Plug the other end of the FireWire cable into an
available FireWire port on the back of the drive.

3. Depending on the size of your drive, version of OS X, your next
step will vary. Find your version of OS X in the table below to
determine your next step.

Open the Apple Disk Utility
located in the Utilities folder
within the Applications folder
on your Macintosh and
proceed to Step 5.

4. Click Initialize.
The Disk Utility program opens.
5. Select your new drive from the list on the left.
Make sure you select your new drive.
This utility will erase all data on the drive.
A description of the drive appears in the window.

Go to Step 4.
Open the Apple Disk Utility
located in the Utilities folder
within the Applications folder
on your Macintosh and
proceed to Step 5.
