neither the PC nor the DPM 8016 are connected with an
existing network.
1.
Click on Start > Control Panel > Network Connection.
The window Network Connections appears. Here, all
available possibilities for the connection of your PC
with a network are given. The Ethernet connection
that is used for the connection with the DPM 8016 is
contained in the LAN or High-Speed Internet cate-
gory.
2.
Click on (with the right mouse button) that particu-
lar Ethernet connection in the Network Connections
window that should be used for the connection with
the DPM 8016.
The context menu of the chosen Ethernet connection
appears.
3.
Click on Properties in the context menu.
The pop-up window Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Prop-
erties appears.
4.
Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

The pop-up window Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Prop-
erties appears.
5.
Choose the option Use the following IP address in
the window.
6.
Type 192.168.1.1 in the IP address input field.
7.
Type 255.255.255.0 in the Subnet mask input field.
8.
Close the window Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Proper-
ties by clicking on the OK button.
The IP configuration of the PC is now complete. In
the following steps the connection of the PC with the
DPM 8016 will be established and checked.
9.
Connect the network connection of your PC to the
Ethernet interface of the DPM 8016 directly with a
crossover cable, or with a patch cable and a hub/
switch.
Please see the Ethernet principles chapter on
page 17 in the appendix of this document for more
information on the details of connecting devices via
Ethernet.
10. Connect the DPM 8016 to the power supply system
and switch it on by operating the power switch on
the rear.
The green POWER LED on the front panel of the
DPM 8016 is illuminated.
11. Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Com-
mand Prompt.
The window command prompt appears.
12. Enter ping 192.168.1.100 and tap the return button.
The PC is now checking the connection with the
DPM 8016. For this four network packets are sent to
the DPM 8016 via Ethernet then the DPM 8016 has
to confirm these packets. If the Ethernet connection
is successful, no packets get lost. Therefore, 0% loss
is stated in the ping statistics.
