406 STARTING AND OPERATING
MESSAGE
AUTOMATIC The transmission is unable to
MODE NOT shift itself automatically, due to

AutoStick mode to shift the
transmission manually. See
your authorized dealer for di-
agnosis and service.
REDUCE GEAR The transmission pump is
CHANGES overheating. In AutoStick
mode, try to drive in one spe-
cific gear as much as possible,
avoiding frequent gear
changes. In DRIVE, the trans-
mission will automatically
modify its shift schedule to re-
duce the number of shifts.
DESCRIPTION MESSAGE
TRANS. GETTING The transmission driving clutch
HOT PRESS BRAKE is overheating, usually due to
repeated launches in stop-
and-go traffic. Pull over and
allow the transmission to cool
in NEUTRAL until "TRANS.
COOL READY TO DRIVE " is
displayed.
TRANS. HOT STOP The transmission driving clutch
SAFELY SHIFT TO P has overheated. Pull over and
shift the transmission into
PARK and allow the vehicle to
cool until "TRANS. COOL
READY TO DRIVE" is dis-
played.
SERVICE TRANS- A transmission fault has been
MISSION detected. See your authorized
dealer for diagnosis and service.
