How To Stop The Engine - Briggs & Stratton 120000 Operator's Manual

Note: If the engine does not start after three attempts,
see the Troubleshooting section.
WARNING:
Rapid retraction of the starter cord
(kickback) will pull your hand and arm toward the engine
faster than you can let go. Broken bones, fractures, bruises
or sprains could result. When starting engine, pull the starter
cord slowly until resistance is felt and then pull rapidly to
avoid kickback.
9. Electric Start: First connect the extension cord to the
power cord receptacle (H, Figure 8) and then into a wall
receptacle. If an additional extension cord is required,
make sure it is a 3-wire.
WARNING:
If the extension cord is damaged, it
must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or
a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
10. Electric Start: Depress the push button (I). After you
start the engine, first disconnect the extension cord from
the wall receptacle and then from the power cord
receptacle (H).
CAUTION: To extend the life of the starter, use short
starting cycles (five seconds maximum). Wait one
minute between starting cycles.
Note: If the engine does not start after three attempts,
see the Troubleshooting section.

How To Stop The Engine

WARNING
Gasoline and its vapors are extremely
flammable and explosive.
Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or
death.
• Do not choke the carburetor to stop engine.
1. Move the stop switch (A), if equipped, to the stop
position (Figure 9).
Move the throttle control lever (B), if equipped, to slow
and then to the stop
2. Remove the safety key (C, Figure 10). Keep the safety
key out of reach of children.
3. After the engine stops, turn the fuel shut-off valve (D) to
the closed position.

11. Allow the engine to warm up for several minutes. Then,
slowly move the choke control knob to the run
position.
