P-2400 IT OWNER'S MANUAL
With a center-tapped isolation transformer, the AC power feeding a studio can be balanced at its source. The current-carrying wires
then are no longer "hot" (120V) and "neutral" (0V), but two 60V lines of opposite polarity (referenced to ground connected to the
center tap), whose difference is 120V.
This type of power, when run around a room, does not induce hum into nearby audio wiring because the two conductors induce equal
and opposite voltages that cancel each other. Similarly, ground currents are all but eliminated by the same common-mode cancellation
effect. No longer is it necessary to adopt cumbersome and expensive star-ground systems or use massive bus bars or heavy ground
rods. Further, with features such as our center tap ground lift, ground induced noise may be reduced even further.
Of course Balanced AC Power is only the beginning of a system free of AC noise. Asymmetrical noise, or what is called "differential
mode," is responsible for well over half the noise present in today's AC lines. For this reason we employ our exclusive Linear Filtering
Technology (LiFT). This assures that your audio, video, or computer signals are as pure and uncorrupted as possible.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1.) Symptom: No power to the AC outlets; "Protection OK" indicator is not lit.
Possible Cause: Either the AC outlet to which your Furman conditioner is connected has no AC voltage present, or the unit has been
subjected to a sustained voltage in excess of 400 Volts.
Action Needed: Plug the Furman conditioner into an AC receptacle where a nominal 120 VAC is present. If the problem persists, the
protection circuit may be damaged, and require factory service.
2.) Symptom: No power to the AC outlets, "Protection OK" indicator is lit.
Possible Cause: Either the GFCI test button has been tripped (such as in transport or after shipping), or; there's an excess of 5mA of
ground leakage to one of the connected components.
Action Needed: Depress the "reset" button on the rear panel's GFCI outlet. If the button pops out immediately when the unit is ener-
gized, there may be an offending product that needs to be removed or possibly repaired.
3.) Symptom: Extreme Voltage (EVS) indicator lit.
Possible Cause: Input voltage is above 140 volts causing power to the unit's outlets to be shut down. Additionally, if the voltage is
below 85 - 90 volts at turn on, the unit will not allow AC voltage to reach the outlets.
Action Needed: Correct the line voltage, and then turn the Furman conditioner on. If the voltage present is well below 114 VAC, or
above 126 VAC, consider installing a Furman voltage regulator.
SERVICE
Before returning any equipment for repair, please be sure that it is adequately packed and cushioned against damage in shipment, and
that it is insured. We suggest that you save the original packaging and use it to ship the product for servicing. Also, please enclose a
note giving your name, address, phone number and a description of the problem.
NOTE: All equipment being returned for repair must have a Return Authorization (RA) number. To get an RA number, please call the
Furman Service Department: (707) 763-1010 (you may also e-mail: info@furmansound.com). Please display your RA number promi-
nently on the front of all packages.
