To automatically fire the flash

The flash automatically fires when the subject is dark.

Make sure that the "
appears on the LCD panel.
If the "

Check that the red LED lights up, then
shoot.
If the subject is sufficiently illuminated, the flash does not fire.
In this case, the red LED momentarily lights to notify you of
this when you lightly press the Shutter Release button.
When the red LED is blinking with the Shutter Release button
pressed lightly, the flash is being charged, and the shutter cannot
be released. Lightly press the Shutter Release button again, and
release the shutter after the red LED steadily lights up.
