    Names and Functions of Parts This indicator is displayed continuously when the computer is in the suspend or Status LCD hibernation mode. (The indicator is also displayed continuously in the hiber- nation mode.) This indicator will go off if the reset switch is pressed or if the battery pack and AC adaptor are disconnected from the computer for 5 minutes or more.

    PD Cartridge and CD PD cartridge A PD cartridge can have files written to and read from it, like a floppy disk or a hard disk, and is capable of storing a large quantity of data. The computer is supplied with one PD cartridge.

    Hardware Expansion Multimedia Pocket (MP) The multimedia pocket houses the floppy disk drive (FDD) that comes with this computer. The FDD can be replaced with an optional unit.     Hardware Expansion Memory Expansion A RAM module may be installed in the computer to increase memory. (part number: CF-BA6116 or CF-BA6132). NOTE Do not add additional memory while the computer is in the suspend or hi- bernation mode. Doing so could damage the unit or prevent the module from being recog- nized properly.

    Hardware Expansion Expansion Bus Connector The expansion bus port gives added functionality to the computer by enabling it to be connected to an optional docking unit (CF-VEB611) or port replicator (CF-VEB612).     Infrared Data Transfer Using the computer's built-in infrared communication port (IrDA compliant), you can transfer data to and from other computers with an infrared port. Infrared Communication Port NOTE Assuming two computers, it is necessary to make the appropriate settings on both computers so that the addresses of the infrared communication ports can be used.

    Battery Pack Charging the Battery Pack The supplied battery pack is not charged at the time of purchase. Therefore, be sure to charge the battery pack before using the computer. With the battery pack loaded, connect the AC adaptor. Charging begins automati- cally.

    Battery Pack Replacing the Battery pack If the power stored in the battery pack reaches a low level while the computer is being run off the battery pack, the battery indicator lights red and repeated beeps sound from the speakers. Should this occur, either immediately connect the AC adaptor or replace the battery pack with a fully charged one.

    Reinstalling Windows If the data on the hard disk becomes corrupted or is erased, follow the procedure below to return it to its factory default condition. There are two reinstallation methods, one for beginners and the other for advanced users. Method for beginners: All data remaining on the hard disk is erased and the hard disk is restored to its factory default condition.
