Carefully read this topic before servicing the tablet.

Disabling the built-in batteries

Before replacing any FRU, ensure that you have disabled the built-in batteries by doing the following:
1. Connect the tablet to the keyboard dock.
2. Turn off the tablet and disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the tablet and the keyboard
dock.
3. Turn on the tablet. When the ThinkPad logo is displayed, press F1 continuously to enter ThinkPad Setup.
4. Select Config ➙ Power. The Power submenu is displayed.
5. Select Disable Built-in Battery.
6. Click Yes in the Setup Warning window, then the tablet turns off automatically. Wait three to five
minutes to let the tablet cool.

Removing the SIM card

If the tablet you are servicing has a SIM card installed, remove the SIM card before you start the servicing.
After you finish the servicing, ensure that you install the SIM card back to the SIM card tray.
