3. Restart the tablet.
4. When the ThinkPad logo is displayed, repeatedly press and release the F12 key. When the Boot
Menu window opens, release the F12 key.
5. Use the arrow keys to select ATAPI CDx (x: 0, 1, ...) and then press Enter. The diagnostic program is
launched automatically.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen to use the diagnostic program.

Power system checkout

To verify if the power system is functional, do the following
1. Disconnect the ac power adapter and the Enhanced Keyboard Dock for ThinkPad Helix (hereafter
referred to as the keyboard dock) from the tablet.
2. Press the power button to turn on the tablet. If the tablet can be turned on, it means that the tablet
built-in battery is functional.
3. Turn off the tablet and connect the tablet to the keyboard dock. If the status indicator on the keyboard
dock (the illuminated dot in the ThinkPad logo) lights up for a moment, it means that the keyboard dock
built-in battery is functional.
4. Disconnect the tablet from the keyboard dock. Then connect the ac power adapter to the keyboard
dock. If the status indicator on the keyboard dock (the illuminated dot in the ThinkPad logo) lights up for
a moment, it means that the ac power adapter is functional.
If you suspect that the power problem is caused by a specific power device, refer to the appropriate
checkout item in the following list:

Checking the tablet built-in battery

When the tablet is disconnected from the ac power adapter and the keyboard dock, and the tablet fails when
you are using it, check the tablet built-in battery by doing the following:
1. Ensure that the tablet failure is not caused by exhausted battery power.
2. Reset the tablet by inserting a straightened paper clip into the emergency reset hole. Then press the
power button. If the tablet cannot be turned on, continue with the next step.
3. Clear Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) by inserting a straightened paper clip into
the emergency reset hole and pressing the Windows
4. Press the power button. If the tablet cannot be turned on, continue with the next step.
5. Connect the ac power adapter and press the power button.
• If the tablet is turned on, disconnect the ac power adapter from the tablet. If the tablet shuts down, it
means that the built-in battery fails.
• If the tablet cannot be turned on, replace the built-in battery with another one. If the tablet can start
up with the new battery installed, it means that the original battery fails.

Checking the keyboard dock built-in battery

To check the keyboard dock built-in battery, do the following:
1. Connect the tablet to the keyboard dock and turn on the tablet.
