To remove a router bit from a Hitachi TR-12:
1. Lay the router down on a bench. 2. Place one wrench on the shaft nut and another on the collet nut. 3. Position the shaft wrench so it rests against the bench to prevent movement. 4. Turn the collet nut in the direction the cutting edge of the bit turns. 5. If the nut is stuck, gently tap the wrench with a hammer to loosen it. 6. Once loosened, tap the side of the nut (not the shaft threads) with the wrench until the collet loosens and the bit slides out. 7. Check for cross-threading or damage. 8. Clean the shaft and collet nut with denatured alcohol. 9. Optionally, apply a very light film of anti-seize to the threads, but avoid getting any on the collet.
