W - Winter
Use the button to switch the winter program W
on and off.
The winter program makes it easier to drive at
low speed in slippery road conditions. When
the program is engaged, the driving wheels
receive less power than normal and all ups-
hifting occurs at a lower engine rpm.
The symbol W is displayed in the combined
instrument panel.
NOTE! The W program cannot be selected if
you have selected the manual positions.
Program W can only be selected in position D.
Automatic gearbox

Gear selector inhibitor

You can always move the gear selector freely
forward or backward between N and D. Other
positions are locked with a latch that you can
control with the inhibitor button on the gear
selector.
Press the inhibitor button to move the gear
selector forward or backward between R and
N, and between D, 4, 3 and L.
"Kick-down"
When you press the accelerator all the way
down - beyond the position normally regarded
as full acceleration - a lower gear is automati-
cally engaged. This is called "kick-down"
downshifting. When you reach the maximum
speed for the gear or release the accelerator
pedal from the "kick-down" position, there is
an automatic upshift. Use "kick-down" when
you want maximum acceleration, such as when
overtaking.
The transmission is equipped with a downshift
inhibitor on all gears.
