PRE-JNSTALLATION CHECKLIST
This Openerincludespartsandsuppliesneededto installin most
garages and connectto most garagedoors.Thereare manyvariations
of garages and garagedoors. A few additionalpartsand supplies may
be neededto installOpenerintoyour garageand connectto your
garagedoor. Whilecheckingitemslisted below,noteanyadditional
itemsyou will need.
Tools used in this section:
• 12'+ Tape Measure • Pencil • Ladder • Level
Checkfollowing itemsbefore assembling Opener:
Checkconditionof verticalstile in centerof door,and its connectionto
door'stop and bottom beams. ( Figure2)
A If door frameisnailedtogetherand not a solidconnection, d oor
framemustbe bracedor reinforced beforeinstallingOpener.
B If door is"lightweight"(madewith frameand skin- not solid),door
(includingdoor frame)mustbe braced or reinforced before
installingOpener.
C A door openerreinforcement b racketmayalsobe neededto
connectgaragedoor to Opener's DoorBracket. T hisOpeneris
designedfor installationon a properly bracedsectional d oor or
solidly bracedone-piecedoor.
D ContactyourGenieFactory AuthorizedDealeror dealerof your
garagedoor for anynecessary b racingand a door opener
reinforcement b racket(if needed)beforeproceeding.
E If you havea woodendoor,measure door'sthickness. I f your door
is less than 2"thick, bracedoor or useshorterDoorBracketLagScrews
(1/4"x 1-1/4"- not included)
ALIGNMENT, OPERATION,
AND BALANCE
A Raise door,checkalignmentand seeif it movesfreely (Figure1). If
doorappearsout of alignment,binds, o r doesnot movesmoothly,
contacta GenieFactory AuthorizedDealer o r dealerof your garage
doorfor repairsand adjustments to door mechanism.
B Raise door to 3' - 4' aboveground andcarefullylet go. Door
shouldstaystationary.Slightmovementisacceptable.Morethan
slight movementmeans door isout of balance.Contact a Genie
Factory AuthorizedDealeror dealerof your garage
doorfor repairsand adjustments to door mechanism.
C Check door type. Make a note of whether it isa sectional o r a
one-piecedoor (Figure2).
