Using a Device Lock Passcode to Protect Your NOOK
You can configure your NOOK to lock the screen after a certain number of minutes and then require a four-digit
passcode to be entered before any features can be accessed. This passcode is called the device lock passcode.
To set an unlock passcode, do this:
1.
On the Settings screen, tap Security.
Your NOOK displays the Security settings screen.
2.
Tap the Device lock passcode menu choice.
A window labeled "Enter passcode" appears. The window features a numerical keyboard.
3.
Tap on the online keypad to the four-digit number you want to use as your passcode.
Once you have entered the four-digit number, the window displays a message, asking you to confirm the pass-
code.
4.
Tap on online keypad again to re-enter the four-digit number.
Your NOOK returns to the Security settings screen. You'll see that the checkbox on the Device lock passcode
menu choice is now checked. Anyone using your NOOK will have to enter the passcode to use the device after
it wakes up.
Turning off the Device Lock Passcode
To turn off the device lock passcode and no longer require a passcode to be entered, do this:

Your NOOK displays the Security settings screen.
2.
Tap the Device lock passcode menu choice to uncheck its checkbox.

app, connections to Facebook and Twitter, as well as the ability to share recommendations and quotes.
To disable social features, do this:
1.
On the Security settings screen, tap Restrictions.
Your NOOK displays a numerical keypad.
2.
Create or re-enter a passcode to control access to this feature.
If you have already created a Restrictions passcode, type it on the numerical keypad.
If you have not created a passcode, yet, enter a 4-digit number, then enter it again.
