Using Apps on Your NOOK

Your NOOK includes many applications or "apps," including music players, a photo gallery and media application, a
contact management application for storing addresses and phone numbers, and games such as Chess and Sudoku.
The apps include:
Chess – a chess game
Contacts – a contact management application where you can view your email contacts and add new email
contacts for sharing book recommendations, quotes, and so on
Crosswords - a crossword puzzle game
Email - an app for sending and receiving email (see "Using NOOK Email™" for details)
Hulu Plus
- an app for watching current hit TV shows, classic series, and acclaimed movies

Music Player – an app for playing MP3 and AAC music files that you load on your NOOK
My Media – an app for viewing and organizing photos that you load on your NOOK; My Media also includes
tutorial videos, such as the introductory video you watched when you registered your NOOK
Netflix
- an app for watching streaming movies and TV shows through your Netflix account (if you don't have a

Netflix account, you can create one by launching the Netflix app and clicking the "Visit netflix.com" link)
NOOK Friends™ – software for connecting with NOOK Friends, sharing recommendations, and borrowing
and lending books through Barnes & Noble's exclusive LendMe® technology (see "Using NOOK Friends™" for
details)

Sudoku - a Sudoku game in which you fill in squares with numbers
You can purchase additional applications through the NOOK Store. Navigate to the Shop and search the apps cat-
egories to see which applications are available.
NOTE: Certain third-party apps such as Hulu Plus and Pandora require membership. This membership is inde-
pendent of your BN.com account. If you do not already have a membership account for a third-party
app you would like to use, visit the Web site of the app and sign up for membership there.
NOTE: Apps that stream media, such as TV shows, movies, or music, require a live Wi-Fi connection. You must
be connected to a Wi-Fi network to use these apps.

Viewing the Applications Installed on Your NOOK

To see icons for all the applications on your NOOK, do this:

Tap the NOOK button to open the Quick Nav Bar.

Tap the Apps icon.
Your NOOK displays a grid showing the applications installed on your NOOK.
