Enlarging a subject further

The zoom lens of this unit can zoom in up to 60x (optical zoom). If you use the following
functions, you can enlarge the subject even further.
Extended optical zoom
Zooming in up to 135x is possible when pictures with [
[Picture Size] on the [Rec] menu (→143). EZ is short for "Extended optical zoom".
Extended optical zoom cannot be used in the following cases:
• Motion picture (including [Creative Video Mode])
• Scene Modes ([HDR], [High Sens.])
• [Creative Control] Mode ([Impressive Art], [Toy Effect])
• When the [Quality] setting is set to [
[i.ZOOM]
You can use the camera's Intelligent Resolution technology to increase the zoom ratio
up to 2x higher than the original zoom ratio with limited deterioration of picture quality.
Set [i.Resolution] to [i.ZOOM] on the [Rec] menu.
When [i.Resolution] is set to [i.ZOOM], Intelligent Resolution technology is applied to
the picture.
[i.ZOOM] always functions in [Intelligent Auto] mode and [Scene Mode] (except
[Handheld Night Shot], [HDR], [High Sens.]).
[i.ZOOM] does not function in the following cases.
• Scene Modes ([Handheld Night Shot], [HDR], [High Sens.])
• [Creative Control] Mode ([Impressive Art], [Toy Effect])
• When the [Quality] setting is set to [
