Overview
All Samsung laser printers have the capability to
print using Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). The
Internet Printing Protocol was developed by IETF
(Internet Engineering Task Force) and currently
there are two versions available as RFC docu-
ments: IPP 1.0 and IPP 1.1. Samsung IPP sup-
ports the newer version, 1.1.
IPP allows users to print documents via Internet
protocols to any printer connected to the Internet.
IPP implementation consists of two main modules:
the IPP server and the IPP client.
IPP server runs on the Network Interface Card
itself, while IPP client runs on the user's Windows
computer.
IPP printers should be installed with authentication
and security mechanisms regardless of home use
or office use, in order to avoid unauthorised access
to the printers.
Benefit
• With IPP, you can print to any printer on the
Internet, just as you access the Internet home
page from your PC's web browser.
• IPP printing is gaining acceptance in the market
as most PCs have access to the Internet.
• IPP client can be used by a wide variety of oper-
ating systems, including Windows, LINUX, and
UNIX.
