    Safety The safety aspects of our refrigerators comply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Safety Law. Nevertheless, we con- sider it our obligation to make you aware of the following safety infor- mation: Intended use • The refrigerator is intended for use in the home. It is suitable for the cooling, freezing and storing of frozen food, as well as for making ice.
  • Page 6 Safety • Please make old appliances unusable prior to disposal. Pull out the mains plug, cut off the mains cable, break or remove spring or bolt catches, if fitted. By doing this you ensure that children cannot lock themselves in the fridge when playing (there is risk of suffocation!) or get themselves into other dangerous situations.

    Remove transport safeguard The appliance and the interior fittings are protected for transport. 1. Remove all adhesive tape and packing pieces from the interior of the appliance. You can remove any remnants of adhesive using white spirit. 2. If present, remove protective film from the control panel. Installation Installation Location The appliance should be set up in a well ventilated, dry room.

    Installation Your refrigerator needs ventilation Integratable models (i-appliances) The integrated door of the furniture cabinet largely seals the installation recess. i-appliances must therefore be provided with ventilation by having an opening in the furniture plinth. The warmed air must be able to be exhausted upwards through the air shaft on the furniture back.

    Appliance Description DESIRED temperature means: The temperature that has been selected for inside the fridge. The DESIRED temperature is indicated by flashing numbers. ACTUAL temperature means: The temperature display indicates the current temperature inside the fridge. The ACTUAL temperature is indicated with illuminated numbers. Temperature display The temperature display can indicate several pieces of information.

    Prior to Initial Start–Up 1. Please clean the appliance interior and all accessories prior to initial start-up (see section: “Cleaning and Maintenance”). Starting Up - Setting the Temperature 1. Plug the mains plug into the mains socket. 2. Press ON/OFF button. The green mains pilot indicator illuminates.

    COOLMATIC/FROSTMATIC COOLMATIC Button The COOLMATIC function is suited for quick cooling of large quantities of goods in the refrigerator, e.g. drinks and salads for a party. 1. The COOLMATIC function is switched on by pressing the COOLMATIC button. The yellow light illuminates. The COOLMATIC function now provides for intensive cooling.

    Switching the Appliance off 1. To switch off, hold down the ON/OFF button for approx. 5 seconds. This will result in a countdown from "3" to "1" taking place in the tempera- ture display. After reaching "1" the fridge will switch off. The tempera- ture display will go off.

    Interior Accessories Storage Shelves Your appliance is equipped with glass storage shelves. The glass shelf above the fruit and vegetable compartment must always remain in this position so that fruit and vegetables stay fresh longer. The remaining storage shelves can be adjusted to various heights: 1.

    Interior Accessories Humidity Control On some models, there is an adjustable air grille in front of the shelf above the fruit and vegetable compartments. The opening in the ventilation slots can be adjusted with a slider. Slider in right position: Ventila- tion slots opened.

    Interior Accessories The variable box can be hung from a storage shelf in the refrigerator compartment: 1. Pull the storage shelf forward until it can be tipped up or down and removed. 2. Hang the retaining bracket on the taper on the storage shelf and slide the storage shelf back into the guides.

    Correct Storage For physical reasons, there are different temperature regions in the fridge. The coldest region is on the lowest storage shelf. Warmer regions are the top stor- age shelf, the vegetable basket and the storage compartments on the door.   • Page 21 Freezing and storing frozen food • Do not freeze too large a quantity at any one time, the quality of the food is best preserved when it is frozen right through to the core as quickly as possible. 1. For exploitation of maximum freezing capacity press the FROSTMATIC button 24 hours prior to freezing, or 4 to 6 hours for smaller quantities.

    Preparation of Ice Cubes 1. Fill the ice cube tray 3/4 full with cold water, place it in the freezer compartment and leave to freeze. 2. To loosen the frozen cubes, either bend the ice cube tray or hold it under running water for a few seconds.

    1. Switch on the FROSTMATIC function a few hours before defrosting to make sure frozen food remains sufficiently frozen. 2. Remove frozen food, wrap it in several layers of newspaper and store it, covered, in a cool place. 3. Switch off the appliance and unplug it, or pull the fuse or switch off the circuit breaker.
