3 In-roof mounting

3.2.1 Determine fitting area and fit mounting laths

Leave the existing roof laths as a sub-structure
- particularly if they are located at the described
locations.
This is how to do it:
• In order to determine the fitting field first apply the
template for the height and transfer the dimensions.
The upper edge indicates the bottom edge of the
topmost row of tiles. The bottom edge corresponds to
the bottom edge of the collector and should be 7-16
cm away from the upper edge of the lower row of tiles.
If the distance is outside this range, assume 7 cm and
shorten the upper row of tiles accordingly.
• Determine the width of the mounting field so that, if
possible, it seals against full tiles on one side. On the
other side, the tiles should be cut to suit.
• Fix lath A with the top edge on the bottom edge of the
template onto the rafters. Allow the lath A to project
at least 100 mm over the fitting field width on the left
and right hand sides.
• Screw laths B (length 1150 mm) onto lath A in the
collector positions using quick-assembly screws in
such a way that the collectors can slide on the inclined
edge during assembly and be thus fixed in this method
(see magnification Fig. 3.4).

Fig. 3.6 Push the pipe through the lower mounting track. Make
a V-shaped cut in the lower mounting track, fold the
top wide cloth over the one above and the lower narrow
cloth over the roof lath below and fix tightly. This
ensure that the dampness flows away to the side. On
inserted roofs, cut a hole with a compass saw and treat
the roofing felt in a similar way to that under the lower
mounting track.

Assembly

Please note the following instructions before and during
installation:
Store the collectors correctly!
Do not store the collectors outside in a vertical
or horizontal position due to the vent holes.
Protect the collector connections when
tightening by holding them securely!
When you connect the stainless steel
corrugated hoses to the collectors, use two
open-ended spanners (size: 21 and 24 mm) and
hold securely when tightening in order to
protect the collector connection from damage.
Observe roof back ventilation!
There must be roof back ventilation in
accordance with regulations.
Avoid frost-related damage!
After pressurisation and flushing, the collectors
may not be completely drained. The solar
heating installation should therefore be
immediately filled with solar fluid. The volume
of water per collector is 1.27 litres. Check the
concentration using a anti-freeze tester. If there
is a danger of frost, no water alone should be
permitted in the collector!
