The issue may be caused by an electrical fault, likely related to a bad ground or faulty wiring. In similar cases, problems with the Central Electronic Module (CEM) or its connectors can cause unusual behavior with interior lights and the dashboard. It’s possible the car is misinterpreting the door open signal or the interior light circuit is interfering with other systems. Checking and reseating the CEM connectors and inspecting grounding points may help identify the cause.

Do you have a question about the S40 and is the answer not in the manual?
Questions and answers
When i open the door on my 2010 S40 the lights do not flash. Please can you tell me why!
