15.
Be sure that all domains and reverse zones are associated with the
correct DNS servers, subnets with the correct DHCP servers, and subnet
organizations with the correct DCs. Also, be sure that Send Secure
Updates is set to True for all assignments of secure zones to MS-DNS
servers.
16.
Be sure that all the DHCP scopes are correct and appear as dynamic IP
objects within VitalQIP.
17.
Enter any remaining data into VitalQIP, such as the Administrator profiles.
18.
Edit the qip.pcy file on the Enterprise server. In the section for the QIP
Update Service, set UpdateDNS to False.
19.
Perform VitalQIP Remote Service installation on any DNS or DHCP
servers that are to be managed by VitalQIP, and apply any necessary
patches so that they are the same build as the Enterprise server.
20.
Arrange the cut-over date.
21.
Put the new VitalQIP Enterprise server on the production network. If this
involves a change of its IP address, be sure to take care of issues for the
Enterprise server license key, Sybase/Oracle clients, message routes
on the Enterprise server and remote servers, as well as environment
variables.
22.
Run qip-syncexternal to be sure that the VitalQIP database has the correct
SRV records, and so on, from the existing DNS servers for all AD zones.
Also, use it to get the A records and PTR records for any zones that are
defined in VitalQIP but are intended to be externally updated.
23.
Perform DNS/DHCP Generation to the screen for all VitalQIP-managed
DNS and DHCP; verify that they all have correct information. Then push to
the servers.
24.
Verify that DNS and DHCP are working correctly, and that DHCP client
hostnames can be looked up in DNS. Check the event logs for all DNS
servers to be sure that they have no DNS errors.
25.
Perform DC Generation for your Domain Controllers and verify that the
data files are correct. Then process those files with the LDIFDE utility if
necessary.
