SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS - Read before operating equipment
Thisproduct w as designed andmanufactured to meetstrictqualityand
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation a nd operation
precautions whichyoushould beparticularly awareof.
1.
ReadInstructions - Allthesafety andoperating i nstructions s hould
bereadbefore theappliance i s operated.
2.
RetainInstructions - Thesafety and operating i nstructions s hould
beretained forfuturereference.
3.
HeedWarnings - Allwarnings ontheappliance a ndintheoperating
instructions should beadhered to.
4.
FollowInstructions - All operating a nd useinstructions s houldbe
followed.
5.
Waterand Moisture - Theappliance s hould notbeusednearwater
- for example, n eara bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
in a wet basement or near a swimming pool,etc.

CartsandStands - Theappliance s hould beused onlywitha cart or
stand thatisrecommended b ythemanufacturer.

with care.Quickstops,excessive force,and uneven
surfaces maycausetheappliance a ndcartcombination
to overturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - Theappliance s houldbemounted to a
wallor ceiling onlyasrecommended bythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnot interfere with itsproper ventilation. Forexample,
theappliance s hould not besituated on a bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilation openings; or, placedin a
built-in installation, suchasa bookcase or cabinetthatmayimpede
theflowofair through theventilation o penings.
9.
Heat - Theappliance shouldbe situated awayfrom heatsources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves,or other appliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduce h eat.
10. Power Sources - Theapplianceshouldbe connected to a power
supply onlyofthetype described intheoperating i nstructions or as
marked on theappliance.
11. Power-Cord Protection - Powersupply cordsshould be routed so
thattheyarenot likely to bewalked on or pinched byitemsplaced
uponor againstthem, payingparticularattention to cordsand
plugs,convenience receptacles, andthe point wheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance s hould becleaned onlyas recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines - An outdoor antenna shouldbe located awayfror
powerlines.
14. OutdoorAntenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna i s connected t o
thereceiver, besuretheantenna system is grounded soas to pro-
videsomeprotection against v oltagesurgesand built up static
Charges.
Section 810 oftheNationalElectric C ode,ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1984,
providesinformation w ithrespect to propergrounding o f the mats
andsupporting s tructure grounding o fthelead-in wireto ananten-
nadischarge u nit,sizeof grounding connectors, location ofanten-
na-discharge unit,connection to grounding electrodes andrequire-
ments forthegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods - The powercord of the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f romthe outlet whenleft unused for a longperiodof
time.
16. Object andLiquidEntry- Careshould betakensothat objects do
not fallandliquids arenotspilled intotheenclosure t hrough open-
ings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- The appliance s houldbeserviced by
qualified service personnel w hen:
A. Thepowersupply cordortheplug hasbeen damaged; or
B. Objects havefallen,or liquidhasbeenspilled intothe appli-
ance; o r
C. Theappliance h asbeen exposed t o rain;or
D. Theappliance d oes notappear to operate normally or exhibits
a marked change in performance; or
E.
The appliance h asbeen dropped, ortheenclosure d amaged.
18. Servicing - The usershould not attemptto service the appliance
beyond thatdescribed in theoperating i nstructions. Allotherservic-
ingshould bereferred t o qualifiedservice personnel.
Note to the CATVsystem installer: This reminderis providedto call tt
CAW systeminstaller'sattentionto Article 820-40 of the NEC that pro-
videsguidelinesfor propergroundingand,in particular,specifiesthat the
cablegroundshallbeconnectedto the groundingsystemof the building,
as closeto the pointof cable entryas practical.
