SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS - Read before operating equipment
This productwas designedand manufactured to meetstrict qualityand
safety standards.Thereare, however,some installationand operation
precautions whichyou shouldbeparticularly awareof.
1.
ReadInstructions - Allthesafetyandoperating i nstructions should
bereadbefore theappliance isoperated.
2.
RetainInstructions - The safety andoperating i nstructions s hould
beretained f or future reference.
3.
HeedWarnings - All warnings o ntheappliance andin theoperating
instructions shouldbeadhered to.
4.
FollowInstructions - M operating a nduseinstructions shouldbe
followed.
5.
WaterandMoisture- Tt'eappliance s hould not beused nearwater
- for example, neara bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
in a wetbasement or near a swimming p ool, e tc.

CartsandStands - Theappliance should beused onlywitha cartor
standthatisrecommended bythemanufacturer.

An appliance and cart combination s hould be moved
with care. Quickstops,excessive force,and uneven
surfacesmaycause theappliance a ndcartcombination
to overturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - Theappliance s hould be mounted to a
wallor ceiling onlyas recommended b ythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated s othatitslocation or
position doesnot interfere withits properventilation. Forexample,
theappliance s hould not besituated on a bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilation openings; or, placedin a
built-in installation, suchasa bookcase o rcabinet t hatmayimpede
theflowofairthrough theventilation o penings.

Heat - The appliance shouldbe situated awayfrom hearsources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves,or other appliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduceheat.
10. Power Sources - The appliance shouldbeconnected to a power
supply onlyof thetype described i ntheoperating i nstructions or as
marked ontheappliance.
11. Power-Cord Protection- Powersupply cordsshouldbe routed so
thattheyarenot likely to bewalked on or pinched byitemsplaced
uponor againstthem, paying particular attention to cordsand
plugs, c onvenience receptacles, andthe pointwhere theyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance s houldbecleanedonlyas recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines - Anoutdoorantenna shouldbe located awayfrom
power lines.
14. OutdoorAntenna Grounding - If anoutsideantennaisconnected to
the receiver, b e surethe antennasystemis grounded so as to
provide someprotection a gainst v oltage surges andbuiltup static
charges.
Section810 oftheNationalElectric C ode,ANSI/NFPA No.70-1984,
provides information with respect to propergrounding ofthemats
and supporting structuregroundingof the lead-in wire to an
antennadischargeunit,sizeof grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection t o grounding electrodes and
requirements forthegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods - The power cord of the applianceshouldbe
unplugged f rom theoutletwhenleft unused for a longperiod of
time.
16. ObjectandLiquid Entry - Careshouldbetakensothatobjectsdo
not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosurethrough
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- Theapplianceshould be serviced by
qualified service personnel w hen:
A. Thepowersupply cordor theplughasbeen damaged; or
B. Objects havefallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance hasbeen exposed t o rain;or
O. Theappliance d oesnotappear to operate normally or exhibits
a marked change inperformance; o r
E.
Theappliance hasbeendropped, ortheenclosure d amaged.
18. Servicing - The usershouldnot attemptto service theappliance
beyond that describedin the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicing s hould bereferred to qualifiedservice personnel.
Notetothe CATV system installer:Thisreminderis provided t o callthe
CATVsysteminstaller's attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that
providesguidelines for proper grounding a nd,in particular, specifies t hat
the cableground shallbe connected to the grounding system of the
building, asclose to thepoint ofcable entry as practical.
