SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - Readbeforeoperatingequipment
Thisproduct w asdesigned and manufactured to meetstrict quality and
safety standards.Thereare, however,some installationand operation
precautions whichyou shouldbe particularly awareof.
1.
ReadInstructions - All thesafety andoperatinginstructions should
bereadbeforetheappliance isoperated.
2.
RetainInstructions - The safety and operating instructions should
be retained forfuturereference.
3.
HeedWarnings - All warnings o ntheappliance andintheoperating
instructions should be adhered to.
4.
FollowInstructions - NI operating a nd useinstructions shouldbe
'followed.
5.
WaterandMoisture- Theappliance shouldnot be usednearwater
- for example,neara bathtub,washbowl, k itchensink, laundrytub,
in a wet basement o r neara swimmingpool,etc.

CartsandStands - Theappliance shouldbe usedonlywitha cart or
standthat is recommended b y themanufacturer.

An applianceand cart combinationshould be moved
with care. Quick stops, excessiveforce, and uneven
surfacesmay causetheappliance and cart combination
to Dye rturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - Theappliance should be mountedto a
wallor ceiling onlyasrecommended b ythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance should besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnot interfere withitsproper ventilation. Forexample,
theapplianceshouldnot be situatedona bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surfacethat may block the ventilation openings; o r, placedin a
built-ininstallation, suchasa bookcase or cabinet t hatmay impede
theflowofair through theventilation openings.

Heat - Theapplianceshouldbe situated away from hearsources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves,or otherappliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduceheat.
10. Power Sources - The applianceshould be connected to a power
supply onlyofthetypedescribed i n theoperating instructions or as
marked ontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection- Powersupply cordsshouldbe routed so
thattheyarenot likely to be walked on or pinched by itemsplaced
uponor against them, payingparticular attentionto cordsand
plugs, convenience receptacles, andthepointwhere theyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance s houldbe cleaned onlyas recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines - An outdoor a ntennashould be located awayfrom
power lines.
14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna is connected to
the receiver, b e surethe antennasystemis grounded so as to
provide some protectionagainstvoltage surgesandbuilt upstatic
charges.
Section810 oftheNational E lectric Code,ANSI/NFPA No.70-1984,
provides i nformation with respect to proper grounding o f the mats
and supporting structure groundingof the lead-inwire to an
antenna discharge u nit,size of groundingconnectors,location o|
antenna-discharge unit,connection to grounding electrodes and
requirements forthegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-use Periods - The power cordof the appliance should be
unplugged f romthe outletwhenleft unused for a long period of
time.
16. ObjectandLiquid Entry - Careshould be takenso thatobjectsdo
not fall and liquidsare not spilled into the enclosure through
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service - Theappliance s houldbe servicedby
qualifiedservicepersonnel when:
A. Thepower supply cordor theplug hasbeendamaged; o r
B. Objectshavefallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance hasbeenexposed t o rain;or
O. Theappliance d oesnotappear to operatenormallyor exhibits
a marked change in performance; or
E.
The appliance h asbeen dropped, ortheenclosure damaged.
18. Servicing - The usershould not attemptto service theappliance
beyond that described in the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicingshould bereferred toqualifiedservice personnel.
Noteto theCATV system installer: T his reminderis providedto callth6
CATVsysteminstaller's attention to Article820-40 of the NEC that
provides g uidelines for proper g roundingand,in particular, specifies that
the cableground shall be connected to the grounding systemof the
building,as close tothepoint ofcable entry as practical.
