SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Readbeforeoperating equipment
Thisproduct w as designed andmantdactured to meetstrictquality and
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation and operation
precautions whichyoushould beparticularly awareof.
1.
ReadInstructions - AllthesafetyandoperaUng i nstructions s hould
bereadbefore theappliance i s operated.
?_ Retaininstructions - The safetyand operating i nstructions s hould
beretained forfuturereference.

ReedWarnings - Allwarnings onthe appliance andin the operating
instructions should beadhered to.
4.
FollowInstructions - Alloperating and useinstructions shouldbe
followed.

Waterand Moisture - Theappliance s hould notbe usednearwater
- for example, neara bathtub, w ashbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
in a wetbasement or neara swimming pool,etc.

Carts and Stands - Theappliance s hould beused onlywitha cartor
stand thatis recommended bythe manufacturer.

An appliance and cartcombination shouldbe moved
with care. Quickstops,excessive force,and uneven
surfaces maycausetheappliance a ndcart combination
to overturn.

Wall or CeilingMounting - The appliance shouldbe mounted to a
wallor ceilingonlyas recommended bythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnot interfere with itsproper ventilation. Forexample,
the applianceshould not besituated on a bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surface that may blockthe ventilation openings; o r, placedin a
built-in installation, suchasa bookcase o r cabinetthat mayimpede
theflow ofairthroughthe ventilation o penings.

Heat- The appliance shouldbe situated awayfrom hearsources
such as radiators, heat registers,stoves,or other appliances
(including a mplifiers)that produce heat.
10. Power Sources - The appliance shouldbe connected to a power
supply onlyofthe type described in theoperatinginstructions or as
markedontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection- Powersupply cordsshouldbe routedso
thattheyare notlikelyto bewalked on or pinched by itemsplaced
uponor againstthem, payingparticular attentionto cordsand
plugs, c onvenience receptacles, andthepointwhere theyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance s hould be cleaned onlyas recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- An outdoor a ntenna shouldbe locatedawayfror_
power lines.
14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside a ntenna is connected to
the receiver,be sure the antennasystemis grounded so as to
provide someprotection a gainst v oltage surges and builtup slatic
charges.
Section810 of the NationalElectric C ode, A NSIINFPA No. 70-1984,
providesinformation withrespect t o propergrounding of the mats
and supportingstructuregroundingof the lead-inwire to an
antenna discharge unit.sizeof grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes and
requirements forthe grounding electrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods - The power cordof the applianceshouldbe
unplugged f rom the outletwhenleftunused for a longperiod of
time.
16. Objectand Liquid Entry - Careshouldbetakensothat objects do
not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosure through
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- Theappliance shouldbeserviced by
qualifiedservice personnel w hen:

Thepower supply cordor theplug hasbeen damaged; or
B. Objects havefallen, or liquid has been spilledinto the
appliance; or
C. Theappliancehasbeen exposed torain;or
D. Theappliancedoes not appear to operate normally o r exhibits
a markedchange i n performance; or
E.
Theappliance h asbeendropped, orthe enclosure d amaged.
18. Servicing- The usershouldnotattemptto service theappliance
beyondthat describedin the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicing s hould bereferred t o qualifiedservicepersonnel.
Noteto the CATV system installer:. This reminder is provided t o callthe
CATVsysteminstaller'sattention to Article820-40 of the NEC that
provides g uidelines for proper grounding and,in particular,specifies t hat
the cablegroundshallbe connected to the grounding systemof the
building, asclose tothepoint ofcable ent_as practical.
