SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - Readbeforeoperatingequipment
Thisproductwasdesigned and manufactured to meetstrictquality and
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation and operation
precautions which youshouldbeparticularly awareof.
1.
Read Instruction_ - Allthesafety andoperating i nstructions should
be readbefore theappliance i soperated.

Retain Instructions - Thesafetyand operating i nstructions s hould
be retained f or futurereference.

Heed Warnings - Allwarnings o ntheappliance a ndin the operating
instructions should beadhered to.

FollowInstructions - All operating a nd useinstructions shouldbe
followed.

Water andMoisture- Theappliance s hould notbeusednear water
- for example, neara bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
in a wetbasement orneara swimming p ool, e tc.

CartsandStands - Theappliance s hould beused onlywitha cartor
stand thatisrecommended bythemanufacturer.

An appliance and cart combination s houldbe moved
with care. Quickstops, excessive force,and uneven
surfaces may cause theappliance a ndcartcombination
tooverturn.

Wall or Ceiling Mounting - Theappliance s houldbemountedto a
wallor ceiling onlyas recommended bythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position doesnot interfere withits proper v entilation. Forexample,
the appliance s hould not besituated on a bed,sofa,rug,or similar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilation openings; o r, placedin a
built-in installation, suchas a bookcase o rcabinet t hatmayimpede
theflowofairthrough theventilation o penings.

Heat - Theappliance shouldbesituated awayfrom hearsources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves, or other appliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduce h eat.
10. Power Sources - The appliance should be connected to a power
supplyonlyofthetypedescribed intheoperating i nstructions or as
marked ontheappliance.
11. Power-Cord Protection - Power supply cordsshouldbe routed so
thattheyarenot likely to bewalkedonor pinched by itemsplaced
upon or againstthem, payingparticular a ttentionto cordsand
plugs,convenience receptacles, andthe point wheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - Theappliance s hould be cleaned onlyas recommen,' ....
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- An outdoor antenna shouldbe located awayfro,=
power lines.
14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna isconnected to
the receiver, b e sure the antenna systemis groundedso as to
provide someprotection a gainst v oltage surgesand builtup static
charges.
Section810 ofthe National E lectric Code, A NSI/NFPA No. 70-1984,
providesinformation with respect to propergrounding ofthe mats
and supporting structuregroundingof the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge u nit,sizeof grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection t o groundingelectrodes and
requirements forthegrounding e lectrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods - The powercordof the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f rom the outletwhenleft unused for a longperiod of
time.
16. ObjectandLiquid Entry - Care shouldbetaken so thatobjects do
not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosure through
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- The appliance s hould be serviced by
qualifiedserwce personnel w hen:
A. Thepower s upply cordor theplughasbeendamaged; or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance hasbeen exposed t o rain;or
D. Theappliance d oesnotappear to operate normally or exhibits
a marked change inperformance; o r
E.
Theappliance hasbeendropped, or theenclosure d amaged.
18. Servicing - The usershouldnot attemptto service the appliance
beyondthat describedin the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicing s hould bereferred toqualifiedservice personnel ....
Noteto theCATV system installer:. Thisreminder i s provided t o callthe
CAW systeminstaller's attention to Article820-40 of the NEC that
provides g uidelines for proper g rounding a nd,in particular, specifies that
the cable ground shallbe connected t o the grounding system of the
building, asclose tothepoint ofcableentry as practical.
