Recording Broadcast Stereo/Second
Audio Programs
• Some TV programs
are broadcast
with stereo audio,
and your VCR is capable
of receiving
and recording
these
stereo
broadcasts.
The MONO
indicator
light
must
be turned
off. Then,
when
stereo
sound
is
received,
the STEREO light will come on.
• By connecting
your VCR to a stereo amplifier,
receiver,
or a TV equipped
with stereo inputs (see pages 7 and
8), the stereo recording
may be played back in stereo.
• Your VCR is also capable of receiving and recording
an
SAP (second
audio program).
The second audio pro-
gram, which
is broadcast
with certain TV programs,
is
generally
used to provide
the audio
information
in a
second
language.
The AUD B indicator
will turn on
automatically
when a second
audio program
is being

ON
SELECT APPROPRIATE
AUXILIARY
INPUT IF TV
HAS STEREO.
TURN ON VCR.
INSERT CASSETTE.
tREWIND CASSETTE,
broadcast.
To record the SAP audio, press the AUD B
SET switch (B SET indicator
will come on).
• Follow the installation
instructions
on pages 7 and 8 if
you have not already made the connections.
• To record both the stereo and the second audio pro-
gram, follow all the steps shown below. Stereo will be
recorded
on the VHS Hi-Fi tracks and SAP will be rec-
orded on the linear tracks. (Only the SAP can be played
back on a VHS non-Hi-Fi
VCR.)
• If you don't want to record the SAP, follow all the steps
below except step O'
The stereo will be recorded
in
stereo on the VHS Hi-Fi tracks and in monaural
on the
linear tracks. (The stereo sound can be played back, in
monaural,
on a VHS non-Hi-Fi VCR.)

SET TO LINEAR TO PLAY BACK SAP.
• Display
Panel-
STEREO light on:
Stereo audio is being received.
STEREO light oH:
Stereo audio is not being broadcast,
or MONO light is on.
MONO light on:
VCR will only record monaural audio. When the MONO light is on,
the VCR cannot receive or record stereo or SAP. The STEREO and
AUDIO B lights will not come on even if stereo and/or
SAP is being
broadcast.
The MONO light should only be used if the stereo
reception is too noisy for enjoyable listening.
If the stereo signal is
too noisy, turning on the MONO light will usually improve the sound
MONO light off:
The MONO light should
normally be off. This will allow the STEREO
light to come on whenever
stereo is being broadcast,
and will allow
the AUDIO B light to come on whenever
SAP is being broadcast.
B SET light on:
SAP will be recorded on the linear tracks whenever
SAP is
received (whenever
the AUDIO B light is also on). The B SET light
should
only be turned on if you want to record SAP audio.
B SET light off:
SAP will not be recorded even if the AUDIO B light is on.
AUDIO B light on:
Second Audio Program (SAP) is being received.
AUDIO B light off: SAP not being broadcast,
or MONO light is on
