Usfng the TV's Menu System
Alternate with PIP button Captioning infbrmation is shown, when available, when you press
the PIP button on the remote, with the PIP window on the screen.
PIP Closed-Caption Mode Displays a choice list that lets you choose which PIP closed-captioning
mode you want to use to display PIP closed-captioning inf;:)rmation.
Menu Language Displays a choice list that lets you select your pref_,rred language fi)r the
menus: l'2nglish, Spanish or l:re/nd_.
PietureTilt (Direct View TV 31" or above) Your TV has an extra large picture tube that makes
it vulnerable to the effects of the Earth's magnetic field. You may need to adjust the picture tilt.
Using Closed Captioning
Many programs are encoded with closed-captioning infi)rmation, which lets you displfJy the
audio portion of a program as text on the TV screen.
Closed captioning is not available on all channels at all times. Only specific programs encoded
with closed-captioning in{;_)rmation are applicable. When a program is closed captioned, the

If you don't know which Closed-Caption
mode to use, select CC1. CC1 is
probably the mode that is used in your
area, CC2, CC3, and CC4 are reserved
for foreign languages, but are rarely
used at this time.
Closed-Caption Modes
The TV offers eight closed-captioned modes, including fimr text modes.

1. Select Screem from the Main menu.
2. Highlight (2esed-Caption Mode and press OK (the {2osed-Capliorl Mode
appears).
3. Highlight your choice and press OK (the Screen menu appears again).
Note: The 7?xt modes cover nea@ ha!/'4 the pklure on the scree:n to display Ihe
cle._ed-captioned text. Most broad( asl_s use Ihe CC mode, which displays a /ew
line._ of caplions at a time.
Turning off Closed-Caption
1. Select Screen fi'om the Main menu.
2. Press OK to select (2esed-Caption Di@lay.
3. HighLight QffAlwa)_s and press OK. The closed captioning is turned off and
you go back to the Screem menu.
