The remote control is designed to not only control your
new VCR but several other compatible
RCA- and Sears-
brand
television models as well.
Before attempting
to operate
your remote,
install the
batteries
as shown below.
-Battery
Installation
The batteries
supplied
with your remote control are
packed separately.
Here's how to install them:
1. Turn the remote
control
over and remove the
cover of the battery compartment.
2. Insert
the batteries
so that
their positive
(+)
!
ends contact the positive terminals in the battery
compartment.
These
are marked
(+)
in the i
bottom
of the compartment.
3. Replace the cover.

Notes:
• Never place anything heavy on top of the remote
control
or lay it upside-down.
This may
acci-
dentally
depress the buttons
for a long time and
discharge
the batteries.
• Replace
the
batteries
when
the VCR
fails to
respond
to the remote control.
• Remove the batteries
from the remote control if it
will not be used for a month
or more. This will
prevent possible damage from battery leakage.
• If you have a compatible
Sears TV, you will have
to reprogram
the remote as described on page 15B
each time you replace the batteries.

Remote Buttons
That Control VCR
Only the remote control buttons
that are used to control
the VCR are described
on this page. The buttons
that
are
used
to
operate
compatible
RCA
and
Sears
television models are described
on fold-out pages 15B
and 15C.
Q
VCR Button
• Turns on VCR and puts remote in "VCR Mode"
so that the other remote buttons will control the
VCR.

Number Buttons (0 thru 9)
• Let you select any VCR channel by pressing two
number buttons. Always press two buttons (first
one, then the other) to select a channel. For
example, press "'0" then "6" to select Channel 6.
• These buttons are also used when setting the
clock and programming the timer.

CHANNEL

Buttons
• The VCR's channel memory scan list must be
programmed before the CHANNEL
buttons will
work. Details are on page 12.
• After
the
scan
list
is
programmed,
press
CHANNEL
• to select the next higher channel
in the scan list.
• Press CHANNEL
to select the next lower
channel in the scan list.
Q
TV/VCR
Button
• Turns the [_
indicator
in the display panel
on and off.
• When the [_
indicator is displayed, your TV
must be tuned to the VCR channel (3 or 4).
Signals come thru the VCR tuner, and you select
channels with the VCR CHANNEL
buttons.
• When the _
indicator
is off, signals are
bypassing
the VCR and going fight to the TV.
So, you can select channels with the CHANNEL
buttons
on the TV.
• This button lets you record one channel
while
you're watching another channel. Details are on
page 13.
Q
STOP Button
• Stops whatever
the VCR is doing
(recording,
playing back, fast forwarding,
or rewinding).
PA USE Button
• Pressing PA USE (while the VCR is recording)
stops the tape so that nothing will be recorded.
When
you
press
PAUSE
again,
recording
resumes immediately.
• Pressing PA USE (while the VCR is playing back
a tape), produces a stop-action picture. Pressing
PA USE again resumes normal playback. Details
are on page 20.
