ADJUSTMENTS
STEERING GEAR ADJUSTMENT
(FIG.
8.ADJ)
If excessive play develops in the steering, adjust pinion and
sector gears as follows:
1. Slightly loosen sector gear mounting screw under main
frame.
2. Turn sectorgear eccentric to movesectorgear forwardor
backwardas required.
3. Hold sector gear eccentric with wrench while tightening
mounting screw securely.
BLADE BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
1. Right hand and canter quill brake pods should completely
clear quill assembly pulleys when the mower clutch lever is
in the engaged position.
2. If the canter quill brake pod does not clear thara is too much
slack inthe mowerclutch engagement cable. The springcan
be repositionad on the idler arm extension in an aitamate
hole orthe cable conduit end can be adjusted at the pulley
support bracket to eliminate excess slack in engagement
system.

3. In the disengagad position there shouldbe notension on the
mower deck clutch spring. There should be only enough
slack as to allow approximately 1 inch total sideways move-
ment ofthe cable-end/spring-end junction. Thisensuresthat
the brake is exerting proper pressure to stop the center and
left hand blade effectively.
4. Check adjustment on right hand brake pad. Locknut on end
of brake rod should be approximately 1/8 inch from brake
pad mounting Ixscket with mower clutch lever disengaged
and right hand brake pad against quillpulley. Adjust Iocknut
if necessary.
