Remote Control Functions
IMPORTANTNOTE: T heAVR110's remote
may be programmedto control up to eight
devices,includingthe AVR110. Beforeusing the
remote,it is important to rememberto pressthe
Input Selector button _
that corresponds to
the unit youwish to operate.In addition,the
AVR110's remoteis shippedfrom the faetoff to
operatethe AVR110 andmost HarmanKardon
CDor DVDplayersandcassettedecks. T he
remoteis alsocapableof operatinga wide vari-
ety of otherproductsusingthe control codes
that are part of the remote.Beforeusingthe
remotewith otherproducts,follow the instruc-
tions on pages27-29 to programthe proper
codesfor the productsin your system.
It is also importantto rememberthat manyof
the buttonson the remotetake on different
functions,dependingon the productselected
using the Input Selectors _O.
The
descriptions shown hereprimarilydetail the
functionsof the remotewhen it is usedto oper-
ate the AVR110. (Seepage30 for information
about alternatefunctionsfor the remote'sbut-
tons.)

Power On Button: Press this buttonto
turn on the powerto a deviceselected by press-
ing oneof the Input Selectors _.
IR Transmitter Window: Pointthis win-
dow towardsthe AVR110 when pressing buttons
on the remoteto makecertainthat infialedcom-
mandsare properly received.

Program Indicator: ThisLEDindicatoris
usedto guide you throughthe processd pro-
grammingthe remote.(Seepage27 for infor-
mation on programming the remote.)
Power Off Button: Press this buttonto
placethe AVR110 or a selected devicein the
Standbymode.
ql_ Input Selectors:Pressing oneof these
buttonswilt performthreeactionsat the same
time. First, i f the AVR110 is not turned on, this
will power up the unit. Next,it wilt selectthe
sourceshown on the button as the input to the
AVR110. Finally, i t wilt changethe remotecon-
trol so that it controls the deviceselected. A fter
pressingoneof thesebuttonsyou must press
the AVR Selector button _
againto oper-
ate the AVR110'sfunctionswith the remote.
_t AVR Selector: Pressing thisbuttonwill
switchthe remotesothat it wilt opelatethe
AVR110'sfunctions. I f the AVR110 is inthe
Standbymode,it wilt alsoturn the AVR110on.
AM/FM Tuner Select: Press this buttonto
selectthe AVR11O'stuner asthe listening
choice.Pressing this button when the tuner is
alreadyin usewill selectbetweenthe AM and
FM bands.

TestButton: Press this buttonto begin
the sequence usedto calibratethe AVR11O's
output levels. ( Seepage18 for moreinformation
on calibratingthe AVR110.)

Sleep Button: Pressthis button to place
the unit in the Sleepmode.After the time
shown in the display,the AVR110wilt auto-
matically go into the Standbymode.Eachpress
of the button changesthe time until turn-off in
the following order:

the surround mode. After the button has

the Night mode.Thismode isavailablein spe-
cially encodeddigital sources,and it presewes
dialog (center-channel) i ntelligibilityat low
volumelevels.

the menuselectionor settingduringsomeof
the setupprocedures for the AVR110.

settingsinto the AVR110's memoff. It is also
usedin the setup procedures for delaytime,
speakerconfigurationand channeloutput level
adjustment.

remote hasbeen programmed.

tuner is in useto selectbetweenautomatic
tuning andmanualtuning. Whenthe button is
pressedsothat the AUTO indicator[]
goes
out, pressingthe Tuning buttons_1_!_! wilt
movethe frequencyup or down in single-step
increments. W henthe FMband is in use,press-
ing this button when a station'ssignal is weak
will changeto monauralreception.(Seepage
