Operation
Basic Operation
Onceyou havecompletedthe setupandconfig-
uration of your new receiver, i t is simpleto
operateand enjoy Thefollowing instructions
will providethe steps neededto enjoy the
HK3370:
• Installthe two suppliedAAA batteriesin the
remote asshown Be certainto observethe (+)
and (-) polarityindicatorsshown inthe bottom
of the batterycompartment,
• When usingthe HK 3370 for the first time, it
is necessary t o pressthe Main Power button
[] on the front panelto turn the unit on This
placesthe unit in a standbymode,asindicated
by the ambercolor of the Power Indicator
[kl. Oncethe unit is in standby,you may begin
a listeningsessionbypressingthe System
Power Control [] on the front panelor the
Main Power On button _ on the remote
Notethat the Power Indicator [] will turn
red, then green Thiswill turn the unit on and
return it to the inputsourcethat was last used,
Theunit may also be turned on from standbyby
pressingany of the Source Selector but-
tons on the flont panel [] [] [] [] [] []

lo turn the unit off at the end of a listening
sessionsimplypressthe System Power
Control [] on the %nt panelor the Main
Power OFFbutton _) on the remote This
placesthe unit in the Standbymode,and the

when a power commandisreceivedfrom the
remote,
When the remoteis usedto turn the unit "off"
it isactually placingthe systemina standby
mode,as indicated bythe ambercolor of the
Power Indicator lk'l,
When you wifl be awayflom homefor an
extendedperiodof time it is alwaysa good
ideato completelyturn the unit off using the
front panel Main Power Switch [],
• Todim the brightnessof the front paneldis-
play, pressthe Dimmer button _) on the
front panel [] Thefirst presswill dim the
lightsto half normal.A secondpresswill turn
the displaycompletelyoff Pressthe Dimmer
button _'d_) again to restorethe displayto
normal brightness
Source Selection
• Toselecta sourceat any time,pressany of
the Source Selector buttonson the remote
(_ or front panel [] [] [] [] [] []
• Duringa listeningsession you maywish to
adjustthe Bass [], Treble [] and
Balance [] controlsto suit your listening
tastes,
• Adjustthe volumeto a comfortablelevel
udng the front panelVolume Control []
or remote Master Volume Up/Down (]_
buttons,
• Totemporarilysilenceall speakeroutputs
pressthe Mute button _ [], Thiswill cut the
output to all speakers, b ut it will not affectany
recordingor dubbingthat may be in progress
When the systemis muted,the MUTE indicator
will light in the Information Display []
and the Volume/Mute indicator[] will
flash, Pressthe Mute button _ [] againto
return to normal operation,
• Forprivatefistening,plug the 1/4" stereo
phone plug from a pair of stereoheadphones
into the front panelHeadphone jack L_II,
• One or two separatesetsof speakersmay be
connectedto the HK 3370 Tolisten to oneof
the speakersets pressthe Speaker buttons
[]¥J on the front panelcorresponding to the
desiredspeakers. T heactivespeakem will be
indicatedbya lit greenLEDin the Speaker
Indicators []Both speakersmay be turned
off for private headphonelistening
• Toprogramthe HK 3370 for automaticturn
off, pressthe Sleep button on the front panel
[] or remote(_ Eachpressof the button will
increase the time beforeshut down in the fol-
lowing sequence:

Whenthe programmedtime haselapsedthe
unit will automaticallyturn off Note that the
front paneldisplaywill dim to one half bright-
nesswhen the Sleepfunction isprogrammed.

disappearandthe information Displayshows
the current source,Pressing any control button
while the Sleepcontrol isactivatedwill momen-
tarily returnthe InformationDisplayto furl
brightness for increased legibilitywithout inter-
ruptingthe Sleepfunction,
Tuner Operation
TheHK3370's tuneris capableof tuning AM,
FMand FMStereobroadcaststations Stations
maybe tuned manually,or they may be stored
asfavoritestation presetsand recalledfrom a
30-positionmemory
Station Selection
1, Pressthe AM/FM [] buttonson the f=ont
panelor on the remote (_ to selectthe tuner
asan input
2, Pressthesebuttonsagainat any time to
switchbetweenAM and FM
3,To selectstations,press, a nd briefly hold,the
Tuning button[] Oand the tunerwill
searchfor the next highestor lowestfrequency
stationthat hasan acceptable signal.Totune
to the next station,pressthe button again lap
the Tuning button[] 0 to advanceone
frequencyincrementat a time,or pressand
hold it to locatea specificstation,Whenthe
TUNEDindicatorilluminates,the station is
properlytuned andshouldbe heardwith clarity,
4,Stationsmay also be tuned directlyby press-
ing the Direct button [q, and then pressing
the Numeric Keys [] that correspondto
the station's frequencyThedesiredstationwill
automaticallybe tuned,
NOTE: Whenthe FM receptionof a station is
weak, audio quality will be increased by switch-
ing to Mono modeby pressingthe FM Mode
button[] (_) until the STEREOindicatorgoes
out,
