approximately 5 seconds.Then,
squeezeand releasethrottle triggerto
allowengineto idle.
• Below40°1=,allow engineto warmup
for 30 secondsto 1 minute;then
squeezeand releasethrottle triggerto
allow engineto idle.
° To stopengine,moveOn/Stopswitch
to the STOP position.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
DONOTusathe choketo starta warm
engineor floodingand hardstarting
may occur.
° Move On/Stopswitchto ON.
° Set fast idlelock.
• Be sure chokeis in the OFFposition.
° Withsaw on ground,gripfront handle
withleft handand placeyourrightfoot
through rear handle.
° Graspstafferropehandleand pull
ropefirmly and quickly to startengine.
° Squeezeand releasethrottle trigger
to returnengineto idlespeed.

DIFFICULT STARTING OR
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
The engine may be floodedif Ithas not
started after 10 pulls.Floodedengines
canbe cleared of excessfuel withthe
following procedure:
Activatethe fast idlelock.
Starting couldrequiremanypullsde-
pending on howbadlyunitisflooded. If
enginestillfails tostart, refertoTROU-

OPERATING TIPS
• Checkchaintensionbeforefirst use
and after 1 minuteofoperation. S ee
ChainTensionIn the Maintenance
section.
, Cutwoodonly.Do notcutmetal,plas-
tics, masonry, n on-wood building ma-
terials,etc.
• Stopthe saw ifthe chainstdkesa for-
eignobject.Inspectthe saw and re-
pairpartsas necessary.
° Keepthe chainout of dirtand sand.
Evena small,amountof dirt willquick-
lydulla chainand Increasethe possi-
bilityof kickback.
, Practice cuttinga few smalllogsusing
thefollowing steps. Thiswillhelpyou
getthe "feel"of usingyoursaw before
youbegina majorsawingoperation.
° Squeezethe throttle triggerand al-
lowthe engineto reachfullspeed
beforecutting.
i Begincuttingwith thesaw frame
againstthe log.
Keep the engineat full speedthe
entiretime you are cutting.
• Allowthechainto cutfor you.Exert
onlylightdownwardpressure.
• Release the throttle triggeras soon
as thecut iscompleted,allowing the
engineto idle. tf you runthe saw at
full throttlewithouta cutting load,
unnecessary wear can occur.
• To avoidlosingcontrol when cutis
complete,do notput pressure on
saw at end of cut.
• Stopthe engine beforesettingthe
saw down.
