, Use a sawhorseto cutsmalllogs.
Never allowanotherpersonto hold
the logwhilecutting and neverhold
thelogwithyourleg or foot.
• Do notcutin an area wherelogs,
limbs,and rootsare tang_ed. Draglogs
intoa oTear a reabeforecutting them.
BUCKING TECHNIQUES
WARNING: If saw becomespinched
or hungin a log, don'ttry to force itout.
Youcanlosecontrolofthe saw result-
ing in injuryand/ordamage to thesaw.
Stop thesaw, drivea wedge of plastic
or woodintothe cut untilthe saw can
be removedeasily.Restartthe saw and
carefully reenterthe cut. Do_ot use a
metalwedge.Do notattemptto restart
yoursaw whenit is pinchedor hungin
a log.

• Overcut through 1/3of the diameterof
the log.
• Rollthe logoverand finish witha sec-
ondovercut.
• Watchfor logswitha pressureside.

Overcuttingbeginson the top sideof
the logwiththe bottomof the saw
againstthe log.When overcutting use
lightdownwardpressure.
Overcuttlng Undercutting
Undercuttinginvolvescuttingon the
underside of the logwith top of saw
againstthe log.When undemutting use
lightupwardpressure.Hold saw firmly
andmaintaincontrol. T he saw willtend
to pushbacktowardyou.
WARNING: Never turnsaw upside
downto undercut. T he saw cannotbe
controlled in this position.
Always make yourfirst cut on thepres-
sureside ofthe log.
