Focus - Nikon D5000 User Manual

Focus can be adjusted automatically or manually (see "Focus Mode" below). The user
can also select the focus point for automatic or manual focus (_ 60) or use focus lock
to focus to recompose photographs after focusing (_ 58).
Focus Mode
Choose from automatic and manual focus modes.
Place the cursor in the information display.
If shooting information is not displayed in the monitor, press the [] button.
Press the _1]_ button to place the cursor in the information display.

Highlight the current focus mode in the
information display and press _).
Choose a focus mode.
Highlight one of the following options and press
_). Note that AF-Sand AF-C are available only in
modes R S,A, and M.

Auto-servo Camera automatically selects single-servo autofocus if subject is
AF-A
AF stationary, continuous-servo autofocus if subject is moving.
Single-servo For stationary subjects. Focus locks when shutter-release button
AF-S AF is pressed halfway.
Continuous- For moving subjects. Camera focuses continuously while shutter-
AF-C
servo AF release button is pressed halfway.
MF Manual focus Focus manually (_ 60).
