CLEANING THE SPARK

Cleaning is requiredevery25 hoursof
operation or annually, w hichevercomes
first.
• Loosenand removethe 2 mufflercoy-

• Removethe mufflercover (cover
snapsoffmufflerbody).

• Removemuffler diffuserand spark

arrestorscreenassembly.Noticethe
orientation of thesepartsfor reassem-
bling.
° Cleanthesparkarrestorscreen witha
Spark
wirebrush, Replacescreen if breaks
Plug
are found.
• Replaceanybrokenor crackedmuf-
tier parts.
• Reinstalldiffuser and sparkarrestor
screen assembly withholesfacing up
and towardsmufflercover.
• Reinstallmuffler cover and 2 screws
(7-8 ft-ibs.).
REPLACE SPARK PLUG
The sparkplugshouldbe replaced
eachyear toensurethe engine starts
easierand runsbetter.Ignitiontimingis
fixedand nonadjustable.
• Loosenthe3 screwson the cylinder
cover.
• Removethecylindercover.
; Pulloffthe sparkplugboot.
Removesparkplugfrom cylinderand
discard.
• ReplacewithChampionCJ7Y spark
plugand tighten with a 3/4 inchsocket
wrench(10-12 ft-lbs). Spark pluggap
shouldbe ,025 in.
• Reinstall t he sparkplugboot.
• Reinstall t hecylindercoverand 3
screws(15-20 in-lbs).

CHAIN REPLACEMENT
CAUTION: Wear protectivegloves
when handling chain.The chainis
sharpandcan cutyou even when it is
not moving.
Itis normalfor a newchainto stretch
during the first30 minutesof operation.
You shouldrecheck yourchaintension
frequently and adjustthechaintension
as required.See Chain Tensionsec-
tion.
• Move On/Stop:switchto the Stop
position.
• Replacetheold chain when it be-
comeswornor damaged.
• Use onlytheLow-Kickback replace-
mentchainspecified in the repair
partslist. The correct r eplacementbar
and chainis also specifiedon a decal
locatedon thechainsaw.
• See yourSearsServiceCenterto re-
placeand sharpenindividual c utters
on yourchain.
