BOAT
MOUNTING
a.
Mount
the motor
on the center
of the boat
transom
(stern),
(See Figure 4).
CAUTION
Hand
ti9hten
xransom
bracket
and ctarnp
stud
handles
simultaneously.
Do not use a
wrench
or
any other
device
that
would
cause damage
to
brackets.
Occasionally
check
to
be sure
lamp
stud
handles
on
transom
mounting
bracket
are
tight.
{See Figure 5).

To
obtain
the
best performance
from
your
outboard,
the following
boat
transom
speci _
fzcations
are recommended:

Mounting
Brackets.
Each
angle
position
elevates
five
(5)
degrees.
Try
,:Center
hole
position
first.
(See Figure
6),

To
find
the correct
angle
position,
make
a
test
run
at
full
throttle
with
your
usual
loading
in the boat.
Always'stop
motor
to
change
the Tilt
Lock
Bracket
Pin;
The cor-
rect
m_gle
position
will
have
your
boat
traveling
whh
the bow
slightly
higher
than
ithe
stern,
but
should
not
porpoise
(bow
i
irises and falls
rapidly
and continlJously).
Be
,
sure Tilt
Lock
Bracket
Pin is always
pushed
completely
through
both
Transom
Mount-
ing
Brackets
and Hitch
Pin is secured,
WARNING
I| the motor
column
is tilted
too
far out-
ward,
I;he boat
is likely
to
porpoise
or
cavitate
at
full
thro_tle,
which
can,be
dangerous
because
a cross wind
or a wave
could
suddenly
deflect
the
boat,into
a
dangerous
turn,
A|so,.
if
the
motor
column
is tilted
too
far inward;
the bow
of
the
boat
wiJl dig
in.
which
can
be
dangerous
when
crossing
a wake
or
in
rough
water,

run
motor
in the
storage
position,
