ATSC
Acronym that stands for Advanced Television
Systems Committee and the name of the
digital broadcasting standards.
Aspect ratio
Tbe width of a TV screen relative to its
height. Conventional TVs are 4:3 (in other
words, the screen is almost square);
widescreen models are 16:9 (the screen is
almost twice as wide as its height).
Component Video
This is a video signal format that conveys
each of 3 principal colors of light (red,
blue and green) through different signal
lines.This allows the viewers to experience
picture colors as original as it is.There are
several signal formats, including Y / Pb / Pr
andY/Cb/Cr.

offers stereo sound (2ch) or multi-channel

resolution and high picture quality.
NTSC
Acronym that stands for National Television
Systems Committee and the name of the
current analog broadcasting standards.
Password
A stored 4-digit number that allows access
to parental control features.
Region Code
Regions associate discs and players with
particular areas of the world, this unit will
only play back discs that have compatible
region codes.You can find the region code
of your unit by looking on the rear panel.
Some discs are compatible with more than
one region (or all regions).
SAP (secondary audio program)
Second-audio channel delivered separately
from main-audio channel.This audio
channel is used as an alternate in bilingual
broadcasting.
SDTV (standard definition TV)
Standard digital format tbat is similar to the
NTSC picture quality.
S-video
Offers higher quality images by delivering
each signal, color (c) and luminance (y)
independently of each other through
separate cables.

• Handlethe discssothat fingerprints and dust do not adhereto the
surfacesof the discs.
• Always storethe discin its protectivecasewhen it is not used.
•To clean-off, usea soft cloth.
• Do not usea hard clothsincethis will mar the disc.
•Wipe the discin astraight line from centerto edge.
• Neverwipewith a circularmotion.
Wipe the panel w ith a soft cloth. Beforecleaningthe panel,disconnectthe
power cord.
• If the unit still doesnot perform properly when it is operated,while
referring to the relevant sectionsandto "TroubleshootingGuide" in this
owner's manual,the laser optical pickup unit may be dirty. Consultyour
dealer or an Authorized ServiceCenterfor inspectionand cleaningof the
laser optical pickup unit.

If the remotecontrol isnot workingproperly, you can usean AM radioor
digital camera(including a cellular phonewith built-in camera)to see if it
is sendingout an infrared signal. , ._

Tunethe AMradiostation to a non-broadcasting
frequency. Point the remotecontroltowards it,
push any button and listen. If the soundfrom
the radioflutters, it is receiving the remote
control'sinfrared signal.
•With a digital camera
(including built-in cell
phonecameras)
Point a digital cameratowards the remotecontrol.
Pushany button on the remote control and look
through the digital camera. If the infrared light
appearsthrough the camera, the remote control is
working.
