REPLACING
BATTERY
_WARNING:
Do not short batteryterminals
by allowing
a wrench
or any other
object to
contact
both
terminals
at the
same
time.
Before
connecting
battery,
remove
metal
bracelets,
wristwatch
bands,
rings,
etc.
Positive
termina!
must be connected
first to
prevent
sparking
from accidental
grounding.
1.
Lift hood to raised
position.
2.
Disconnect
BLACKbatterycable
(A) then
RED battery
cable and carefully
remove
battery
from tractor.
3.
Install new battery with terminals
in same
position
as old battery.
4.
First connect
RED battery
cable
(B) to
positive
(+) batteryterminal
with hex bolt
and keps nut as shown. Tighten
securely.
Slide termina!

(C) over terminal.
5.
Connect
BLACKgrounding
cableto
neg-
ative
(-) battery
terminal
with remaining
hex bolt and keps nut. Tighten
securely.
6.
Close
hood.

TOE-IN/CAMBER
Your new tractor
front wheel toe-in
and cam-
ber is set at the factory
and is normal.
The
front wheel toe-in and camber
are not adjust-
able.
if damage
has occurred
to affect
the
factory
set front wheel toe-in or camber,
con-
tact a Sears or other qualified
service
center.
INTERLOCKS
AND RELAYS
Loose or damaged wiring may cause your
tractor to run poorly, stop running, or prevent
it from starting.
• Check wiring.
TO REPLACE
FUSE
Replace
with 30 amp automotive-type
plug-
in fuse.
The fuse holder
is located
behind
the dash.

REPLACE
HEADLIGHT
BULB
Raise
hood.
Remove
bulb holder
from the hole in the
backside
of the grill.
3.
Replace
bulb in holder
and install bulb
holder
securely
back into the hole in the
backside
of the grill.
4.
Close
hood.
TO REMOVE
HOOD
& GRILLASSEMBLY
1.
Raise hood.
2.
Unsnap
headlight
wire connector.
3.
Stand
in front of tractor.
Grasp
hood
at
sides,
tilt toward
engine
and
lift off of
tractor.
4.
When
replacing
hood,
be sure to recon-
nect the headlight
wire connector.

TO ADJUST
THROTTLE
CONTROL
CABLE
The
throttle
control
has
been
preset
at
the factory
and adjustment
should
not be
necessary
Check
adjustment
as described
below
before
loosening
cable.

TO ADJUST
CHOKE CONTROL
The
choke
control
has been
preset
at the
factory
and adjustment
should
not be neces-
sary. If adjustment
is necessary,
see engine
manual.
TO ADJUST
CARBURETOR
Your carburetor
has been preset at the factory
and
adjustment
should
not be necessary.
However,
minor adjustment
may be required
to compensate
for differences
in fuel, tem-
perature,
altitude
or load.
If the engine
does
need adjustment,
see engine
manual.
