CAUSE
• Using detector
indoors

• Multiple targets
present
• Highly oxidized

• Sensitivity set
too high

SOLUTION
• Use detector
outdoors only
• Move away
from power lines
at least 20' apart
• Only dig up
repeatable
signals
• Reduce sensitivity
until erratic
signals cease
• Replace battery
• Use only 9V
alkaline battery
or rechargeable
• Move coil slowly
at different angles
• Reduce sensitivity
• Replace battery
• Check connections
