CONNECTIONS: REAR PANEL

Note: It is recommended that the iMultiMix be turned off before connecting and disconnecting any sources
to the inputs at the rear of the unit.
1.

INPUT SOURCES

The first five channels of the mixer accept microphones via the XLR connectors or mono line-level
sources via the ¼" connectors. The ¼" inputs work perfectly with all sorts of
different line level inputs— professional balanced TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) +4dBu
inputs, unbalanced "TS" (Tip-Sleeve) connections, -10dBv (consumer-level)
sources, etc.

PHANTOM POWER

The iMultiMix can provide phantom (+48V) power for condenser microphones.
Phantom power is applied to all five microphone inputs.
CONNECTING ELECTRIC GUITARS AND BASSES
Electric guitars and basses can be connected to the ¼" inputs as well. The
combination of the [TRIM] control and the fader level on the front panel will
deliver more than enough gain to drive these sources. However, note that the
line-level inputs are relatively low impedance (600Ω-2 kΩ nominal), whereas
most electric guitars and basses perform best when connected to a high-
impedance input closer to 200kΩ or higher. The resulting impedance mismatch
may dull the sound of the guitar or bass. If this dulling occurs, use a direct box
to connect such high-impedance instruments to the iMultiMix.
Channels 6/7 and 8/9 are stereo ¼" (TRS) line-level only channels. These are
ideal for connecting stereo sources like CD players and keyboards.
Channels 8/9 are switchable between either the line-level inputs on the rear of
the unit or an iPod docked at the front of the unit. Only one source or the other is active at any one time.
They are never active simultaneously.
Microphone or Line,
but not both
You can attach either a
microphone or a ¼" input to
each of these channels, but do
not attach both of them to the
same channel at any one time.
In extreme cases, doing so can
damage your microphone.
Connecting a turntable
to the iMultiMix
If you want to connect a
standard turntable to the
iMultiMix, use a dedicated
turntable-to-line-level
preamplifier.
