Wait for the vehicle to reach the running
speed so that the system can learn all the
necessary functions.
To reconnect the battery to the electrical
system, insert the control lever in the switch
and turn it clockwise until it stops.
The self-learning process for the Motronic
ECUs works properly when the intake
air temperature is between 5 and 100°C
(41 and 212 °F), hence always check that
the outside temperature falls within these
values before carrying out this operation.
Recharging the battery
If possible, the battery should be
recharged in a well-ventilated area
and away from any flammable materials.
In certain cases, batteries can produce
combustible gases. Do not smoke, use
naked flames or create sparks near the
battery.
Proceed as follows, using a lead acid battery
charger:
• Disconnect the battery using the battery
master switch and disconnect the terminals
from the battery poles as described earlier.
• Connect the cables of the instrument
used to charge the battery to the battery
poles.
• When the battery has been recharged,
reconnect the terminals to the battery
poles, firmly securing the terminal screws,
and restore the connection to the electric
system by means of the battery master
102
switch.
Do not use devices that have to be
connected to the cigarette lighter.
Advice for optimal use of the battery
• If the vehicle does less than 1000 km
(620 mi.) a month or when it is used in
town, the battery charge is sufficient for a
maximum of twenty days.
• For longer distances out of town, the
charge will be sufficient for about forty
days.
Beyond these terms it is advisable to
recharge the battery in order to be able to
start the vehicle.
If accessories that absorb power other than
those provided by Ferrari are fitted on the
vehicle (cell phones, navigators, satellite
alarm systems etc.), the battery may discharge
faster and it will have to be recharged more
frequently.
Battery charger outfit (optional)
On request, the vehicle can be equipped
with a special connector to connect a
battery charger in order to keep the battery
charged and for emergency charging.
For instructions on the use of the device see
the "Scaglietti Bodywork Programme"
Owner's manual and the instructions given
with the Kit.

Windscreen wiper

In order not to damage the wiper blades,
avoid using them when:
• the windscreen is dry
• the blades are stuck to the windscreen
due to sub-zero temperatures
• there are traces of snow on the
windscreen or the wiper arms
• there are deposits on the windscreen.
The wiper blades must be cleaned periodically
and checked for wear.
Replacing the wiper blades
• Turn on the windscreen wiper and stop
it (ignition key in position 0) when the
blades are in vertical position.
• Lift the arm, remove the blade and
replace it checking that it is properly
locked on the arm.
Never lift the windscreen wiper arms from the
rest position.
