The DÜRKOPP ADLER 281 is a special sewing machine for universal use.
It is a single-needle double-lockstitch machine with bottom feed for light
to medium weight material and equipped with a standard sewing equip-
ment (E2) for general sewing operations on clothing.
Integrated sewing motor on the upper shaft.
Maximum sewing speed of 5,000 stitches/min (factory setting
4,800 stitches/min.)
Stitch length 4.5 mm.
Thread trimmer, automatic electromagnetic bartacking.
Electromagnetic thread clamp, to be switched on and off on the operating
panel.
Integrated drive lock for stopping the sewing drive while the machine head
is swivelled.
The class 281 is a sewing machine head designed for the sewing of light to
medium weight material. This kind of material consists in general of textile fi-
bers or leather and is used in the clothing industry and for domestic and car
upholstery.
It exists also the possibility of executing so-called technical seams with this
sewing machine head. In this case the customer (DÜRKOPP ADLER would
be pleased to cooperate) has to evaluate the possible dangers, since these
kinds of applications are rather rare and their variety is immense. Depending
on the result of this risk evaluation appropriate safety precautions must pos-
sibly be taken.
Generally only dry material may be sewn with this sewing machine head. The
material must not contain hard objects, since otherwise the sewing machine
head could only be operated with an additional eye-protection device. Such
a device is currently not available.
The seam is generally effectuated with sewing thread consisting of textile fi-
bers with a gauge of up to 30/3 NeB (cotton threads), 30/2 Nm (synthetic
threads) or 30/3 Nm (covering thread).
If other threads are to be used, the resulting dangers must first be evaluated
and if necessary safety precautions must be taken
The sewing machine may be set up and operated only in dry and well-main-
tained premises. If the sewing machine is used in premises that are not dry
and well-maintained further precautions, which have to be negotiated before-
hand (see EN 60204-31: 1999) may become necessary.
As manufacturers of industrial sewing machines we expect that the personnel
operating our products has at least received sufficient training in order to ac-
quaint it with all regular operations and their possible dangers.
