File name mode
Place the cursor to "File name mode", then press the [ENTER/YES] key to move it to the "xxxx"
field. Rotate the [MENU] dial to choose one from the following modes;
• Date: Time and Date will be set as the file name.
• Take: (Scene)_(Take No.).wav will be set as the file name.
• Reel: (Reel)_(File No.).wav will be set as the file name.
Press the [ENTER/YES] key to set the mode. The setting will be saved on the internal Flash
ROM.
Add Machine ID
You can choose whether or not the Machine ID is included in the file name. The machine ID is
created by the ES Device ID setting in the menu -> RS422.
Place the cursor to the "Add Machine ID", then press the [ENTER/YES] key to move it to the
right.
Rotate the [MENU] dial to choose either ON or OFF.
Press the [ENTER/YES] key to set the mode. The setting will be saved on the internal Flash
ROM.

Scene name

Place the cursor to the "SCENE NAME" and press the [ENTER/YES] key to move it inside the
parenthesis. You can now enter or edit the scene name by using the 10 key buttons, [MENU] dial
or a USB keyboard. Press the [ENTER/YES] key to set the scene name. The cursor will move to
the TAKE number edit menu. Press the [EXIT/NO] key once satisfied. The setting will be saved
on the internal Flash ROM.
The scene name set with the above procedure will be used for the file name, if the file name
mode is set as TAKE. Also, the scene name will be used as Scene Data in the metadata regard-
less of file name mode setting.
SCENE NAME
The first digit has to be a letter of the alphabet. The maximum scene name length is 17 ASCII
characters on the DV824. If inappropriate letters are entered as the scene name, the display will
alert you with "Illegal Name!" message.
Take number
After entering the scene name, the cursor will move to the TAKE number edit menu. The default
take number is 001. You can now enter or edit the take number by using the 10 key
buttons, [MENU] dial or a USB keyboard. Press the [ENTER/YES] key then the [EXIT/NO] key
once satisfied. The setting will be saved on the internal Flash ROM.
The take number set with the above procedure will be used for the file name, if the file name
mode is set as TAKE. Also, the take number will be used as Take Data in the metadata regard-
less of file name mode setting. The take number will be automatically increased when a new file
is created.

3. Simultaneous Playback (ALE Link Playback)
It is essential that all the machines need to have the ALE file created individually and
the ALE file needs to have the identical events.
3.1.
By pressing the List Play key, the Master machine will set the List Play mode and
issues Group select enabling the Bus connection to all the Slave machines.
The communication is one way via Sony P2 Protocol. The master will issue the Load
ALE File Command and let the slave machines load the ALE file the same as the
master. When the slave machines do not have the same ALE file, it will cancel the
Bus connection. The master allocates enough waiting time to ensure all the slaves
load the ALE file before it moves to the next step.
3.2.
The Master machine will locate to the song start position itself. At the same time, it
will issue the Instant Locate Command to the slaves. The master machine will
secure a long enough locate time. The slave machines accomplish the Locate to
prepare for the Instant Play command issued by the master.
3.3.
The master machine will issue the Instant Play Command to itself as well as to all the
slave machines. All the machines will go to the Play mode at the same time.
3.4.
By pressing the [STOP] key, the master machine will issue the Stop Command.
The slave machines will stop playback.
3.5.
The master machine will issue the Song Position Command to the slaves in order to
secure the precise stop position.
3.6.
In order to secure a precise lock among all the machines, the steps 3.2 and 3.3 are
repeated automatically.
3.7.
By pressing the [LIST PLAY] key, the master machine will issue the List Play Off
Command to the slaves and cancel the list play. The List Play can also be cancelled
by the Song File Load.
When the master loads the List Play, it establishes the Bus connection to the slaves.
Load ALE Command issued. When no such file is found, it will cancel the Bus connection.
Instant Locate Command issued.
Instant Play Command issued. Playback will start.
Stop Command issued. Playback will stop.
Song Position Command issued.
List Play Off Command issued.
