NOTE: It is possible that during the initial reboot of the NetWare 5.1 OS, the GUI mode
may not load properly. This can be resolved by intalling NW5.1 Support Pack 3 or above.
(See "Section 4. Install the Support Pack."

Section 3. Install the Support Pack

1. You can get a latest copy of NetWare Consolidated Support Pack (CSP) from
NetWare Website at
2. You can either subscribe to the "Novell Support Connection CD" program or
download CSP files individually. You will need to mount the Novell
Consolidated Support Pack as a NetWare volume.
3. HP recommends you use NW 5.1 Support Pack 3 or above, which is also
included in the Novell Consolidated Support Pack 5 or above version.
4. Close the GUI.
NOTE: If your GUI is not loaded properly, press Ctrl plus Esc key simultaneously. A
selection screen should come up, and select "system console."
5. Insert the NW 5.1 Support Pack CD-ROM.
6. At the system console prompt enter the command:
load cdrom
7. Wait for about 15 seconds for the CD to be automatically mounted as a volume.
After it is completely mounted the system should say "Volume name"
mounted successfully. Note the volume name (example:
CSP8_CD1).
8. Type nwconfig, NetWare Configuration Tool will open.
9. Scroll down to select "Product Options."
10. Scroll up to select "Install a Product Not Listed."
11. Press F3 and specify the path, including the volume name (for example,
CSP8_CD1:\NW51SPx:\, where SSP8_CD1 is the Volume name from step 5
above and x = version of support pack).
