    Barracuda 18LP Installation Guide, Rev. B General description Barracuda 18LP SCSI disc drives are high-speed, random- access digital-data storage devices. The drive is a component for installation in an enclosure designed for the drive. This is often a rack within the system or an external enclosure designed to house one or more disc drives or other peripheral units.

  • Page 22 Barracuda 18LP Installation Guide, Rev. B SCSI ID jumpers Each device on the SCSI chain must have a unique SCSI ID. The host system’s SCSI controller usually uses the ID that has the highest priority interrupt in the SCSI I/O system. This is always ID7.

The maximum ambient air temperature around the drive should not exceed 50 C. However, to achieve maximum reliabil- ity, the ambient temperature should be about 15 C below this value most of the time.
