4. Slide the drive towards the front of the computer and
lift out.
5. Remove the two brackets on either side of the drive
secured by the screws
, and fit on to the new drive.
6. Slide the new drive into the bay and replace the two
screws .
7. Reconnect the three cables
, and replace the cover.
Task 4 Replacing the System Board
Before You Start
• Remove the computer's cover as described in Task 1
"Replacing the Cover".
Replacing the System Board
1. Disconnect all cables from the system board, making a
note of their location, and then remove any expansion
cards. (See Task 8 "Replacing Expansion Cards".)
2. Pull up the lever , and lift the system board out of the
computer, which may need some force.

3. Remove the memory , see Task 6 "Replacing the
SIMMs".
4. Un-clip the heatsink
, and then raise the lever
lift the processor out .
5. Remove the two VRAM chips , by pushing the special
tool (part number 5041-2553) firmly into the holes at
the ends of the chips and pulling up.
6. Remove the Cache card from its socket
7. Remove the Regulator card
from its socket.
, and
8. Fit all the components on to the new system board.
9. Slide the system board into the back of the computer
and push down the lever .
10. Re-fit the cables and expansion cards into their appro-
priate sockets and replace the cover.

1. Locate the Floppy Disk Drive.
2. Remove the two cables
of the computer.
